"Over the last 40 years, we have mindlessly hollowed out our governmental capacity. We are paying the price for that destruction -- coupled with wholesale incompetence -- now. In the fight against "big government" too many have forgotten that the need for good government endures." -- Eric H. Holder, Jr.

For decades, we've seen conservatives deconstruct "big government" initiatives. But that destruction hit a boiling point after the 2011 redistricting process.
By gerrymandering themselves into power, conservatives were able to use their state-level majorities to hollow out government capacity -- from gutting environmental protections that safeguard our health to reversing common-sense gun violence prevention laws that were meant to keep our communities safe.
With gerrymandered districts, state legislators became beholden to tea party extremists, the Koch brothers, and ALEC -- instead of their constituents.
Our ability to win the fight for fair maps will have an impact on the political landscape for the next decade. Will you donate today to support our efforts to stop map manipulators?

Fair maps are necessary for achieving good governance and accountable leadership. We cannot afford another 10 years of elected officials not being responsive to voters, especially as the current hollowed-out state of government continues to hurt our communities every day.
The need for good governance endures.
