Dear Friend,

As we approach the end of the year, we are all making important decisions -from holiday plans to our voting plan on Election Day.

In this season of decisions, we invite you to consider one more: securing your future and supporting the National Urban League.

This week is National Estate Planning Awareness Week, and it serves as a reminder of the agency we all have in shaping our vision for the future. The decisions we make today have an impact on tomorrow, and an impact on closing the equality gap for underserved communities.

The decision to make an estate plan should not be a difficult one. Our partnership with FreeWill and their online estate planning services help everyone—no matter your age or how wealthy you are—to easily make a plan for free.

Here’s why it matters:

Creating your will allows you to safeguard your loved ones and belongings in 20 minutes or less—at no cost to you. You also have the option to sustain impactful causes like the National Urban League beyond your lifetime.

Revocable Living Trust is a legal document that you can use to distribute your possessions to people and organizations. RLTs differ from wills in that assets do not have to go through the probate process.

On your own terms, you can decide who will care for any children or pets, who will inherit any belongings, and what causes will benefit from your legacy.  If you decide, you can also choose to include a gift in your plans to support the National Urban League.

By including a gift to the National Urban League in your estate plan, you contribute to a future of economic self-reliance and social parity—fostering the development of transformative social programs, authoritative public policy research, and advocacy efforts that close the equality gap for years to come.

Do not leave your decisions up to chance: take action this week to find peace of mind.

Sincerely,

Marc H. Morial

President and Chief Executive Officer

P.S. If you’ve already created an estate plan and included a gift to support National Urban League, please let us know.
