In just 15 days, U.S. voters will go to the polls and decide whether to hand the White House to a man who has pledged to be a dictator on day one, use the military to prosecute his political rivals, give billions in tax giveaways to his billionaire buddies, and flush the planet’s natural systems further down the drain without blinking an eye.

If Trump loses, the Republican Party is already filing lawsuits to block the election certification. We have seen before that violent, far-right fascists don't care what the voters decide. There can be no underestimating what they are capable of.

If Trump wins, the wealthiest, most powerful nation in the world could very well tip into full-bore authoritarianism — with the nation’s progressive left his key target. When they say it out loud, believe them.

We’ve never faced a more perilous moment for democracy, people, and the planet. And this is our solemn vow: the progressive journalism of Common Dreams will not rest, not ever, so long as these threats remain.

We feel deeply that our work has never been more desperately needed than it is right now. And we know full well that no matter the outcome of this election, our readers will need us at our best and our strongest in the crucial weeks and months that follow.
