Pictured Above - Illegally placed signs on issue1 in Medina county. These signs were also seen on Rt 71 from Columbus to Summit county on Saturday and Sunday. If you see a sign on a highway overpass or along the exit and entrance ramps along the highways report it to ODOT and your county engineers office or road department.
It is illegal and a hazard to place signs on the highway. Ohio Law (ORC 5589.33) states that signs, cannot be placed in road right-of way.
(ORC 5515.04) no person shall place within the limits of the right-of way or affix any sign, poster, or advertisement to any tree or utility pole within the right- of -way of any public highway outside of municipal corporations. No person, organization, corporation, or group shall place within the limits of the right-of way any object as determined by the department of transportation to obstruct sight distance.
