Greetings! We hope you're enjoying your fall as the school year continues, leaves start to fall, and the temperature continues to drop. These past couple of months have been filled with terrific visits to local organizations and businesses and special events that really helped celebrate and uplift the importance of our local small businesses. We look forward to continuing this work to have our small business community’s back. As always, we hope this quarterly update, resources, and opportunities are helpful to you! Congressman Kim Helps Secure $72.5 Million to Boost Climate Resilience across New Jersey Shore This July, Congressman Kim was excited to announce that the Building a Climate Ready New Jersey project will be awarded $72.5 million from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Resilience Regional Challenge to make New Jersey’s coastal communities more resilient to climate change and other coastal hazards. He helped deliver funding for this program through the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act, and advocated earlier this year to NOAA so they would select this project! This award will bring federal dollars back to our state to help protect our Jersey Shore and coastal communities. By bolstering our resilience across 16 shore counties, this project will help look after the safety and success of local businesses along our shore and the security of their economies! Celebrating Black Business Month This August, we joined in celebrating Black Business Month, an important chance to uplift the incredible Black-owned businesses in New Jersey! Our diverse small business community is the heart of communities across the state. Congressman Kim is committed to his work to address inequities facing minority owned businesses and expand access to critical resources and support that uplifts entrepreneurs of all backgrounds. Made in New Jersey! On Manufacturing Day each October, we celebrate the benefits of American manufacturing and the New Jerseyans creating products and new technologies every single day! It is our honor to serve the amazing manufacturers who call the Garden State home. From passing the CHIPS and Science Act to prioritizing American manufacturing with good-paying jobs and critical tech investments, to the Inflation Reduction Act that incentivizes clean energy production so we make the next generation of great technologies here at home, Congressman Kim is hard at work for our local workers and manufacturers. Congressman Kim Celebrates Project Funding’s Success Supporting Lenape Regional High School District Transition to Adulthood Program This month we were thrilled to stop by Binkley’s 5 & 10 in Medford to celebrate the impact of funding Congressman Kim secured for the Lenape Regional High School District’s Transition to Adulthood Program! The local business is one of the schools’ partners to employ special needs students between the ages 17-21 and help them develop important life skills and set them up for life-long success. Other locations LRHSD is partnering with through this grant and who took part in the discussion about the importance of this funding are: Medford Bagel Shop and A Rose in December in Medford, and Evergreen Dairy Bar in Southampton. We are proud that Congressman Kim could bring back federal dollars to support such an impactful initiative that goes above and beyond to look out for the well-being and growth of local students. As we continue working to expand opportunities like this that make sure people with disabilities can thrive in communities across New Jersey, we applaud this coordinated effort between local businesses and Lenape schools to look out for these students. | Joining the First Annual State of the Base This October, our office was happy to be able to join Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce for their first “State of the Base” at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. It was terrific to see the business community and Joint Base come together to better understand and discuss shared priorities. The Joint Base has an annual economic impact of $7 billion in our region, and we’ve been working to even further unlock the economic potential of the base through continued federal investments and the opportunities it creates for local businesses. We look forward to seeing our progress and continued investments make the Joint Base an economic engine for our local economy while fulfilling our national security responsibilities. Checking-in on Gateway Project Progress! Earlier this year, Congressman Kim joined Congressman Menendez at a couple Gateway Project sites to see its progress up close. The Gateway Project, is one of the most critical infrastructure projects in the nation, and funded in part by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the largest investment in mass transit infrastructure in the nation’s history. Since helping pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021, Congressman Kim has prioritized seeing that its funding is allocated to critical infrastructure needs in New Jersey. With the support of this federal funding, the Gateway Project will help us secure reliable transit and economic security for tens of millions of people and countless businesses throughout the East Coast. This month, we also celebrated a $3.8 billion federal grant agreement that was executed for the Hudson Tunnel Project! With the crucial support of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Congressman Kim is proud to help turn promises into continued progress. | Congressman Kim Secures $328,950 for South Jersey Regional Airport Improvements We were proud to help secure the New Jersey Department of Transportation $328,950 in grant funding to support the construction of a new taxiway at South Jersey Regional Airport. Through passing the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021, Congressman Kim helped create the Airport Infrastructure Program at the Federal Aviation Administration to invest in runways, taxiways, safety and sustainability projects, as well as terminal, airport-transit connections and roadway projects across the country. New Jersey’s airports are powerful hubs for travel and economic opportunity, and looking after their infrastructure needs is essential to their continued success and service to our state. Congressman Kim continues to look for ways to connect more of our local airports to assistance like this and help make sure they can continue to operate safely and efficiently. | Congressman Kim Visits Maher Terminals in Port Elizabeth New Jersey’s ports are critical to our local economy, jobs, and the global marketplace. Congressman Kim recently visited Maher Terminals, the largest port operator at Port Elizabeth, to discuss the importance of continuing to invest in our shipping infrastructure and support the cargo workforce. | ICYMI: Small Business Webinar Series This Spring, Congressman Kim hosted a Small Business Webinar Series where he was joined by SBA representatives to discuss funding and federal contracting, SBA assistance programs, and specific resources for women, minority, and veteran owned businesses. If you were not able to attend the webinars, don’t worry, you can watch Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 here! RESOURCE: Inflation Reduction Act Tax Credits and Rebates Our office launched a webpage to bring you up-to-date information on how the Inflation Reduction Act could help you save money on your taxes. Congressman Kim was proud to help pass the Inflation Reduction Act into law to invest in American energy production and combat climate change more than any bill in American history. Through this, millions of New Jerseyans and businesses are already eligible for tax credits that will make it easier and more affordable for them to upgrade to more efficient appliances, purchase an electric vehicle, install residential clean energy systems, and save money on their energy bills. All the tax credits are available as of January 2023, but it may take 1-2 years for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities to implement some of the rebate programs. Learn more on our website here!
