Friends,

The other day the Minnesota Republican Party and the Upper Midwest Law Center, along with Minnesota Voters Alliance sued Hennepin County, alleging they improperly set partisan election judges to the absentee ballot board.

The lawsuit alleges that the board deviated from state law, which requires counties to appoint election judges based on lists provided by the state parties. Allegedly of 1500 names submitted, not even one was appointed by Hennepin County.

This is an egregious error on both the part of the Secretary of State’s office, along with Hennepin County. Though this is just in Hennepin County, it is undermining the Democratic process, which ultimately affects every single voter. Not only is this an abuse of power, but it is yet another example of the lack of transparency in the elections process.
