In 2017, Laura Packard, a stage 4 cancer patient, stood up at a town hall held by her conservative U.S. senator and asked him why he backed repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
“Why do you not care about the lives of millions of Americans?” she said. “Why are you voting for me to lose my health coverage? Without it, I will die.”
Packard was promptly removed from the town hall. But she’s a fighter. She fought her cancer into remission. Then, in 2018, she founded Health Care Voices to fight for affordable health care for all Americans.
It’s vital work. And Health Care Voices can only do it if those of us who believe in affordable health care give our support.
We just did. In August, we supported Health Care Voices to power its fight for affordable health care against the politicians and industries that oppose it.

A big part of that work is organizing the millions of Americans with serious medical conditions and training them to tell their stories, become trusted media sources and influence policymakers to support affordable health care. Find more information here.
