If Trump is elected, the GOP’s Project 2025 calls for turning Medicare and Medicaid over to private companies. It even calls for efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act yet again! The result of the GOP’s dismemberment of health care would be the loss of affordable services for millions of citizens, especially seniors and people with disabilities.
Regardless of what Trump may say about Project 2025, you can be sure that the people he hires have already read it. The whole reason the GOP continues to support him regardless of his increasingly unhinged instability is that, with Trump in office, they will have free rein to put their extreme ideas into action against the American people.
The GOP’s plans for health care are a dream for Wall Street, and a nightmare for the rest of us. They will increase the price of prescription medications again, including insulin, which President Biden has capped at $35. The health insurance companies will enjoy more record profits as they prioritize profits over people.
We cannot allow this corporate takeover of Medicare and Medicaid. Send a message to your Congress people to demand they protect Medicare from Trump’s Project 2025 now!
We have already seen that corporate insurers and Medicare don’t mix. Private “Advantage” Medicare plans delay and deny care, limit choice of doctors, and are more expensive for both patients and hospitals. Meanwhile, corporate executives line their pockets with record-breaking profits.
Trump’s Project 2025 would be disastrous for patients who rely on Medicare and Medicaid. The plans outlined in this blueprint for a second Trump term would:
Establish lifetime caps and time limits for length of coverage
Cut back essential benefits
Increase Medicare Part D drug prices
Disqualify more Medicaid recipients, cutting back on medical care for those who can least afford it
Rescind Medicare’s power to negotiate lower drug prices with Big Pharma by repealing the Inflation Reduction Act.
It seems Republicans don’t care about government spending, if it means enriching huge corporations and their ultra-rich executives. When Medicare was able to negotiate costs for the first 10 medications earlier this year, we saw a big drop in prescription drug prices. But the GOP never met a corporate handout it didn’t like, and here’s one they are salivating to reinstate.
Stripping benefits from people, while paying billions more to corporations, ultimately means fewer options for the poor, the disabled, and the elderly, who will have to cut back on essential care.
The Republicans will harm seniors and people with disabilities with their privatization of Medicare, cutting eligibility and benefits. Tell Congress to protect Medicare from Project 2025 now!
Thank you for your commitment to protecting Medicare and Medicaid.
