"Alive they were taken away, alive we want them back!
Dónde están? Where are they?”

Dear John,

The words above are from Mexico’s courageous mothers of the disappeared, who ask us to echo their call this Mother’s Day.

Many voices are needed to convince Mexican authorities to take the decisive action that is needed to end a crisis of staggering proportions.

More than 61,000 people are now reported missing in Mexico. Behind that shocking statistic are people robbed of all that matters, and families tortured by not knowing what happened, where their loved ones were taken and if they are still alive, in need of rescue.

These families have organized into an inspiring national movement. Thanks to their tireless efforts, the government has promised to implement a National Search System and investigations to bring perpetrators to justice. But more pressure is needed to ensure those promises become a reality.

That's why the mothers of the disappeared are asking for your support.

Every Mother's Day, they take to the streets with pictures of their missing loved ones to demand action to find them. This year, amid COVID-19 restrictions, they're organizing a virtual march – and they’ve asked us to march with them.

Here's how you can show your solidarity with the mothers of the Movement for our Disappeared in Mexico, and echo their calls:

1. JOIN THE GLOBAL VIRTUAL SOLIDARITY MARCH

Mothers of the disappeared are asking supporters to flood social media with images and words of support for their cause.
