Sometimes a race comes down to only 62 votes, like it did for LWD-endorsed
candidate Molly Cook.

ER nurse Molly Cook has been a powerful force advocating for abortion
rights and public transit in the Texas state Senate. She won a special
election to serve out the remainder of the current term, but she’ll need
to be re-elected to a full term in November!

Flipping a Texas state Senate seat is no small feat. Molly’s race was
razor thin, but we were able to flip it thanks to your help. In fact, her
GOP opponent even alluded to our “six-figure help” as a big reason why he
lost the seat.

Every donation, every show of support, makes a huge difference in the
races we endorse. Often the entry points into politics for young people
are through seats where an incumbent has gotten too comfy or in the state
legislature where our voices have never been heard before.

Breaking through those barriers takes resources that young candidates –
just starting out in this field – can not always muster up themselves.
