The CARES Act allows the Treasury to dictate where almost $500 billion taxpayer dollars will be spent. I'm demanding that Donald Trump abide by the law so the public knows how these funds are being spent -- will you join me?
The American people are demanding transparency in how CARES Act funding is being spent to ensure working families will benefit -- not the politically connected.
Proper oversight will ensure these funds are spent without waste, fraud, or abuse. But so far, the Trump Administration has provided very little detail on the spending of these funds and is refusing to comply with oversight regulations.
Rep. Carolyn Maloney and I have been pressing the Trump Administration for data and transparency since the day we passed the CARES Act, and I will continue to hold them accountable for clear implementation and guidance.
The CARES Act is the largest emergency relief package ever passed -- the American people deserve to know how it's being spent.
