Counties get fire disaster designation, border troopers and concealed carry in the Capitol

an update from the office of wyoming governor mark gordon

Nine Counties Now Designated Disaster Areas for Wildfire Impacts

Governor Gordon visited the Elk Fire on October 13 and was briefed by the Rocky Mountain Area Complex Incident Management Team Three on priorities and tactics being utilized to protect structures.

This week, Wyoming received an updated U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretarial disaster designation due to damages and losses caused by wildfire. The updated designation *expands the number of Wyoming counties [ [link removed] ]* designated primary natural disaster areas from one to 9.

2024 has been a particularly devastating year for fires, with more than 810,000 acres burned in Wyoming this year, much of it private land. Governor Gordon *will seek additional funds* [ [link removed] ] from the Legislature in his supplemental budget, as the state has already expended its entire two-year firefighting budget
