This is a
long email, but I hope you’ll take a moment to read it because it’s
important.
In an interview about our historic campaign on NBC’s Meet the Press, I was
asked about Donald Trump’s dangerous and anti-trans political ad airing
across the country, including in some areas of Delaware.
I know this
is the kind of politics of division and distraction we’ll see from some in
Congress.
As the nation’s first transgender state senator, I’m used to working with
people who disagree with me on fundamental issues — including those that
are near and dear to my heart.
I’m not running to be the transgender member of Congress; I’m running to
represent Delaware and be a damn good legislator, working on all of the
issues that matter. And that means working with those who disagree with me
on deeply personal issues, including LGBTQ+ equality.
That’s exactly how I’ve passed policies in Delaware, like paid family and
medical leave with bipartisan support and funding to expand, protect, and
enhance Medicaid.
We can
be the antidote to Donald Trump and the MAGA right’s hate and extremism
and get big things done in Congress — but we have to win this race first.
