Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan Celebrate Functional End to Veteran Homelessness in Hennepin County

As Hennepin County took a critical step toward Governor Walz’s goal to end veteran homelessness in the state, Governor Walz proclaimed Veteran Homelessness Prevention and Awareness Day in Minnesota. Hennepin County became the ninth of 10 geographic areas in Minnesota to functionally end veteran homelessness. On Tuesday, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan joined leaders at Hennepin County Government Center to celebrate the occasion.

Today we are one step closer to becoming the fourth state in the country to end veteran homelessness,"* said Governor Walz.* "This wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated team at the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs and those across Hennepin County working tirelessly to meet the needs of every veteran. I extend my gratitude to everyone who has worked to bring us closer to achieving this goal."*

Governor Walz Announces Additional Personnel, Supplies to Support South Carolina Hurricane Recovery Efforts

Governor Walz announced that Minnesota sent additional personnel and supplies to South Carolina to assist in recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.
*"In the wake of this devastating hurricane season, Minnesota will continue to provide every possible resource to support communities across the south," *said Governor Walz.* "I am proud of our dedicated emergency responders and public servants. They are making a critical difference."*

Governor Walz Announces $200 Million Manufacturing Expansion in Duluth

Governor Walz announced that the manufacturer Sofidel will make a $200 million expansion in Duluth, supported by $5 million in business expansion funding from the State of Minnesota. The expansion will create at least 160 new jobs, tripling the company’s current workforce size.

Lieutenant Governor Flanagan leads a women's pheasant hunt in Austin, Minnesota
On Wednesday, Lieutenant Governor Flanagan led the second annual Women’s Pheasant Hunt in Austin, Minnesota following the Governor’s Pheasant Hunting Opener that took place in Sleepy Eye on October 12. The hunt aimed to attract more women to hunting and other outdoor recreational activities in the state.
*"It was a beautiful day to be out pheasant hunting in Austin with an exceptional team of women hunters. Hunters don’t all look one way, and we’re working to include more folks in this time-honored Minnesota tradition,"* said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan.
