Weekend Service Impacts

Routes 3 and 4 will have stop #12840 E Jefferson Street & 12th Avenue relocated Saturday, October 19th and Sunday, October 20th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day;
Route 67 will be rerouted off 11th Avenue NE between NE 43rd Street and NE 50th Street from start of service on Saturday, October 19th to Monday, October 21st at 7 a.m.;
Route 70 will have stop #10240 Boren Avenue & Virginia Street relocated from Saturday, October 19th to Sunday, October 20th, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day;
Route ST 554 to Downtown Seattle will be rerouted off I-90 between Mercer Island and Downtown Seattle from Friday, October 18th at 9 p.m. to Saturday, October 19^th at 6 a.m.;

Service Reminders

Take transit to all your sporting and community events in Seattle. Metro and Link light rail serve riders heading to T-Mobile Park, Husky Stadium, Lumen Field, and Climate Pledge Arena;
- The Seattle Sounders have a match at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Lumen Field;
Water Taxi will continue a year-round midday sailing schedule;
- The fall and winter sailing schedule began on October 12th. Find the sailing schedule on the Water Taxi's Captain's Blog;
Seattle Center Monorail will operate until midnight on Friday and normal hours the rest of this weekend. The Monorail will depart approximately every 10 minutes;
Riders can use Text for Departures by texting their stop number to 62550 to get next departure times;
Remember, it's free and easy to sign up for email or text alerts about King County Metro service. Alerts can be tailored to your favorite route(s).

Metro’s first battery-electric base to be named Tukwila

King County Metro’s first fully-electrified bus base has a new name: Tukwila Base.

Previously referred to as Interim Base, Metro broke ground on the 544,000-square-foot Tukwila Base in March. The facility will support the 120 battery-electric buses arriving in the next two years as part of the transit agency’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

“The new name, Tukwila Base, honors the legacy of the neighborhoods that this facility will connect and the critical service that transit provides,” said King County Metro General Manager Michelle Allison. “Tukwila Base will support our new battery-electric, zero-emission buses, our world-class employees, and spur innovation regionally and globally.”

Allison thanked the City of Tukwila for hosting the new facility.

Located in Tukwila directly south of Metro’s South Base and the agency’s Component Supply Center, Tukwila Base will also support many of Metro’s growing fleet of electric work vehicles and will feature a new employee parking garage equipped with charging stations. Construction is slated for completion in mid-2025 and bus service out of Tukwila Base is scheduled to begin in 2026.

It takes a lot of people to keep a transit system running smoothly across 150 routes and over 300,000 boardings a day.

Bus drivers are the most visible part of any transit system, but there are people behind the scenes who are just as vital in the day-to-day operation of King County Metro.

Their responsibilities include training operators, planning the routes that run throughout the region, and literally being the “traffic controllers” who keep track of the buses on their daily runs.

We’d like to introduce you to the staff that help keep the wheels on the bus going “round and round” every day.
