Email from Rep. McCaul Ensuring FEMA Serves Americans Assisting American communities during disasters should be the top priority for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which is why Congress provided the agency $20 billion in hurricane relief funds just three weeks ago. Rather than keeping FEMA focused on disaster assistance, the Biden-Harris administration has demanded millions of dollars to fund a separate FEMA program titled the Shelter and Service Program, which forces taxpayers to shoulder costs associated with illegal immigrants. I joined my colleagues in a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who oversees FEMA. We demanded answers on the administration's backwards spending priorities — and on how much of the $20 billion Congress provided for disaster assistance still remains. Once again, I want to thank all the national guardsmen and women — and all other servicemembers and first responders from Texas and across the nation — who answered the call to go assist communities in the wake of Hurricanes Milton and Helene. You will always have my support and gratitude! McCaul with a servicemember at our nation's capital The Truth About Democrats' Soft-on-Crime Policies This week, the FBI quietly revised its statistics on crime for the year 2022. While they initially reported violent crime had decreased by 2.1%, the new data shows violent crime had actually increased by 4.5% that year. President Biden and Vice President Harris have consistently relied on and touted the "lower crime" rates in 2022, which we now know to be false. In reality, robberies, rapes, and murders were all on the rise. The FBI's revised statistics prove what common sense told us all along: Democrats' soft-on-crime policies make Americans less safe. The Administration Failed to Vet Afghan National Arrested for Attempted Terrorist Attack in U.S. Last week, U.S. officials arrested Afghan national Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi in Oklahoma for plotting an Election Day terrorist attack — orchestrated by ISIS-K. Tawhedi was brought into the United States in September 2021 during the administration’s chaotic and botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. And just yesterday, the Biden-Harris administration was caught red-handed when news broke that administration officials failed to thoroughly vet Tawhedi. This is yet another example of how the Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous withdrawal has significantly compromised our national security, as my investigative report revealed last month. Throughout the last two decades, many Afghan allies courageously helped the U.S. and our troops in the region. In return, the U.S. promised to protect them. When the administration haphazardly brought thousands of Afghans to the US with little to no vetting during their chaotic withdrawal, they not only put American citizens in harm’s way, but they also did a disservice to those Afghans who risked their lives for our country and deserve our protection. It’s not shocking the administration failed to vet this individual given their failures to thoroughly screen all individuals at our borders. We are seeing the Biden-Harris administration’s failed foreign policies meet their failed border policies in real time, jeopardizing both our national security and the safety of Americans. Americans deserve leaders who will prioritize our nation’s sovereignty and our citizens’ safety. McCaul unveiling his Afghanistan investigative report with Gold Star families The End of A Brutal Terrorist's Reign This week, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar — the architect of the brutal massacre that killed 1,200 people in Israel on October 7 — was eliminated by the Israel Defense Forces in a military operation in Gaza. Sinwar was a brutal terrorist who masterminded the October 7 massacre and all of the death and destruction that followed. I congratulate Israel for having the courage to stand against his evil and for eliminating this violent madman — achieving a small measure of justice for his many, many victims, including dozens of American citizens.
