#WhenWeVoteWeWin NPP ON THE GROUNDAll hands on deck

The voter registration deadline is on Monday, October 21st at 11:59PM, which means this weekend is our last chance to ensure that voters are registered to vote. Our team will be on the ground in all of our regions, working to register as many voters as possible.
Starting on Tuesday, October 22nd we will launch our Get Out The Vote (GOTV) campaign, making sure people get their voting plans ready ahead of the highly consequential November 5th elections.CHECK YOUR STATUS

Georgia is breaking records on early voting. In Pennsylvania, a way to vote before November 5th, is via mail-in ballots.
As of now, all Pennsylvania counties have mail-in ballots available.
Remember, Tuesday, October 29th is the last day to request a mail-in ballot, and your county election office must receive the ballot by 8 pm on Tuesday, November 5th for it to be counted.REQUEST YOUR MAIL-IN BALLOT

U.S. Supreme Court won’t take Pa. Freedom Caucus suit over Shapiro voter registration order ([link removed]

“The U.S. Supreme Court said Monday it would not hear an appeal by members of the Pennsylvania Freedom Caucus in a challenge of Gov. Josh Shapiro’s order implementing automatic voter registration in the commonwealth.”

Pennsylvania county settles federal lawsuit over ballot paper shortages in 2022 voting
“A northeastern Pennsylvania county where ballot paper shortages caused problems during the 2022 election — halting some voting and requiring a judge to extend poll hours — has settled a lawsuit by agreeing to ensure sufficient paper will be ordered for future elections. Luzerne County signed off last week on the settlement with two voters who, as a result of the paper shortages, were unable to cast ballots in that election at polling places in Freeland and Shickshinny.”

Election board votes to keep ballot drop boxes in Luzerne County ([link removed]
“Tensions were high as Luzerne County residents expressed mixed opinions on whether the drop boxes should stay or go for the upcoming election. I'm immunocompromised, and so is my daughter; it's the way we prefer to vote to keep ourselves safe," said Hannah Butterwick, Dallas Township. Eliminating drop boxes does not disenfranchise anyone's voter; contrary to theatrics, it does not take away anyone's vote," said Robin Coshan, Dallas Township.”
Trust in elections is strongest at the local level, Pennsylvania poll shows
“Pennsylvania voters are more likely to trust local election results over presidential ones, with overall confidence in the integrity of voting systems split along partisan lines, a new Spotlight PA poll shows.Voting experts were encouraged by the poll’s finding that voter confidence is strongest at the county level, which is where most responsibility for administering elections lies in Pennsylvania.”

Philadelphia aims to speed up mail ballot processing with new equipment ([link removed]
“During the November 2022 election Philadelphia processed ballots at a rate of 5,000 per hour, while Allegheny County, home to Pittsburgh and surrounding municipalities, processed more than 12,000 ballots per hour, based on an analysis of information provided by the counties, publicly available data, and data from the Pennsylvania Department of State.”

Council on track to pass bill barring Philly landlords from ‘price-fixing’ rents ([link removed]
“City Council advanced legislation Wednesday that’s designed to hold corporate landlords accountable for “price-fixing” rental rates in Philadelphia. Under the antitrust measure, violators could be sued and face stiff fines for coordinating monthly rent, an illegal practice housing advocates say hurts low-income renters by undermining competition and fairness in the marketplace amid an affordable housing crisis.”

Philadelphia’s city officials should be doing everything possible to increase voter registration and boost turnout ([link removed]
“The presidential election will likely come down to Pennsylvania — just as it did in 2020 — and voter turnout in Philadelphia could determine who wins the Keystone State and becomes the next president. Given Philadelphia’s outsized role in deciding elections statewide, city officials should be doing everything possible to increase voter registration and boost turnout. But instead of an all-out push for new and inspiring ways to get out the vote, the effort appears to largely be business as usual.”

PA House approves bills that would codify Affordable Care Act protections in state law“Lawmakers in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a series of bills that would enshrine protections outlined in the federal Affordable Care Act into state law in the event that former President Barack Obama’s signature health care law is repealed or invalidated at the federal level.”

Report: Paying Pa. lawmakers full-time salary helped boost legislature’s representation of mothers
“The number of women legislators in Pennsylvania’s General Assembly who have school-age children has increased exponentially in the past two years according to a new report, and that representation is reflected in some of the policy initiatives that the legislature has put forth.”

Does your deed say Black, Jewish, or Polish people can’t live in your home? In Pa., there’s a new way to address old discriminatory language.
“To address these historical restrictions, Pennsylvania passed a law in December that allows property owners to file a one-page form that gets attached to the deed and disavows and nullifies discriminatory language in it. The free form is submitted to the local county’s Recorder of Deeds office…“The law allows property owners to void the discriminatory language from the time it was first recorded. “We’re taking its power away. And that, to me, is worthwhile.””
