CNN: Florida, West Virginia and Missouri withdraw from bipartisan effort aimed at maintaining accurate voter rolls

The Electronic Registration Information Center, also known as ERIC, is a nonprofit system that helps participating states keep their registration rolls accurate and up to date by analyzing voter data and sharing reports with members, in order for them to update their voter rolls, remove ineligible voters and investigate potential voter fraud.

States from Florida, West Virginia and Missouri to Alabama, Louisiana and Texas withdrew in the last year. Virginia withdrew as well, and after the state legislature passed a bill this year to rejoin, their governor, an opponent of voting rights, vetoed the bill. Critics of the withdrawals have argued that leaving ERIC will make it harder to verify that voter rolls are up to date in each state.
