DEADLINE TO APPLY FOR DISASTER ASSISTANCE IS NEXT TUESDAY

Tuesday October 22nd is the last day that Iowans impacted by this summer’s devastating floods can apply for disaster assistance through the federal government. Resources are available to help families and homeowners rebuild their homes and replace damaged and destroyed personal property.

I encourage anyone in need of support to visit DisasterAssistance.gov or call 1-800-621-3362 before the October 22nd deadline.

Iowans can also go to my website at Feenstra.House.Gov and visit my Natural Disaster Resource Center for more information about recovery assistance.

Deadline approaching for Iowans to apply for FEMA Disaster Assistance

Iowans impacted by severe storms, tornadoes, and flooding from June & July of this year have a small window of time left to apply for FEMA assistance.

WE NEED A FARM BILL SIGNED INTO LAW BEFORE 2025

Over the last few years, the agriculture economy has taken a turn for the worse. Commodity prices have fallen below producers’ break-even points, our agricultural trade deficit has eclipsed $43 billion, farm debt stands at a record $540 billion, and inflation combined with high interest rates continue to squeeze profit margins.

A recent report from Purdue University also found that three in every four farmers expect conditions in the farm economy to deteriorate in 2025. This economic reality for our agricultural community underscores the need to get the Farm Bill signed into law before we ring in the new year.

It is well past time for Senate Democrats to come to the table and work with Republicans to stand with the men and women who feed and fuel our country and the world. By January 1, 2025, our farmers deserve a reauthorized and improved five-year Farm Bill.

I kept my 36 County Tour and my Feenstra Ag Tour going this week by catching up with Humboldt County farmer, Cody Allen.

We need to pass the Farm Bill, repeal the death tax, and stop costly mandates on our ag community to help agriculture and our rural communities thrive.

MEDICARE OPEN ENROLLMENT HAS STARTED

From now until Saturday December 7th, I encourage Iowans eligible for Medicare to enroll in a plan that fits their healthcare needs.

Seniors and those eligible can enroll online at Medicare.gov, review various plans, and call my office at 202-225-4426 with any questions.

In Congress, I will always protect Social Security and Medicare for our seniors.

Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) issued the following statement encouraging eligible Iowans to enroll in a Medicare plan before the December 7th deadline: "Beginning today through Saturday December 7th, I encourage Iowans eligible for Medicare to enroll in a plan that fits their healthcare needs.

STOPPING BY LINEAGE IN DENISON

On Monday, I stopped by Lineage — a cold storage facility in Denison — as part of my 36 County Tour and Feenstra Ag Tour.

In addition to learning more about the business, we talked about my FRIDGE Act — which is part of the Farm Bill — to build refrigeration infrastructure and make port improvements both at home and abroad to support our agricultural exports and put more money in our producers' pockets.

MY AGRICULTURE AND MANUFACTURING LIAISON SPEAKING TO AN AG CLASS AT MORNINGSIDE

This morning, my Agriculture and Manufacturing Liaison — Wes — spoke to an ag class at Morningside University about the Farm Bill.

Kolby DeWitt with Senator Ernst's office and Jacob Bossman with Senator Grassley's office also addressed the class.

VETERAN SERVICE OFFICER FALL SCHOOL

This week, my caseworker — Ann — attended Veteran Service Officer Fall School in Altoona to receive a briefing from the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs and regional VA systems.

I appreciate everything that our VSOs do for our veterans and communities.

I will always stand with our veterans!

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: HARVEST EXEMPLIFIES IOWA'S STATUS AS AN AGRICULTURAL POWERHOUSE

While I’ve been out on the road traveling from town to town on my 36 County Tour, the sights and sounds of this year’s harvest are on full display. Combines, tractors, and grain carts dot the fields, farmers are hauling their crops to market, and our farm families are preparing for winter.

Our annual harvest serves as an important reminder that agriculture powers our economy and supports our rural communities. Born and raised in rural Iowa, I know the significance of agriculture to our state, and it’s why I’ve been the strongest voice for our farmers and producers in Congress since I was first elected.
