I began my “official” career in long-term care at age 16 as a certified nursing assistant (CNA). However, in reality my integration into this setting began from day one. My mother has worked in long-term care my entire life with most of that work being as a Director of Nursing. I would often go to work with my mom and volunteer shredding papers, cleaning out storage areas, and my favorite—helping Residents with activities! Alongside watching my mother’s career, I am proud to be raised by an Army National Guard Veteran of 22 years of service. Both of my parents instilled a strong and selfless work ethic in my siblings and me from a very early age. It’s what brought me to a career with MDVA. It’s always been my dream job to work as an Administrator in a Veterans Home. I’m beyond honored and privileged to be here serving those who gave so much for us.
Working in long-term care takes a special heart. Each day I’m greeted at the door with amazing people at the Luverne Home. Many of my colleagues have served Veterans in this area for 10, 20 and even 30 years or more! It shows in their passionate work every day. Since starting here, I’ve found myself growing as a leader because of the team that I’m surrounded by. This group is made up of the hardest working, selfless, innovative and most dedicated individuals. Every day they push each other to be better than the last, and I am proud to be a member of this team.
There are many amazing things happening within our organization both across the state and in Luverne. If you’re looking for a fulfilling career, I would encourage you to find your home with MDVA.
