John --
Earlier this week, the world watched in horror as a modern-day lynching was broadcasted across the internet.
Ahmaud Arbery was an innocent jogger hunted down by two white men and murdered in cold blood. Even in the middle of a global pandemic, Black people are targeted as soon as we step outside the house.
Though the crime was filmed by an accomplice, we’ve seen this aftermath play out before. Two months and three prosecutors later, no arrests were made -- no one held accountable for this brutal act of hate.
After public outcry, that changed yesterday when the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested the two killers. And while that’s a crucial first step towards getting the justice Ahmaud deserves, we have seen the justice system fail us again and again. Too many times before. So we must stay vigilant.
Today should have been Ahmaud’s 26th birthday. We can’t bring him back. But we can bring his murderers to justice.
Please join us in sharing Ahmaud’s story, honoring his legacy, and working towards #JusticeForAhmaud.

Every Black life matters. Ahmaud’s life matters. His story matters.
We will continue to fight so Ahmaud’s murderers, accomplices, and the police force who allowed these men to walk free for months are held accountable.
Please take care of yourself, and check in with loved ones.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter Global Network
