New resolution introduced by membership for adoption

Good afternoon Chattanooga DSA members!

During last night's October 2024 General Meeting (
minutes here ([link removed]) ), the resolution "Resolution: For an Anti-Zionist Chattanooga DSA in both Principle and Praxis" was introduced to Chattanooga DSA membership. This resolution was bottom-lined by two Chattanooga DSA members with input from other chapter members and research into similar measures passed by other DSA chapters.

This resolution involves potential amendments to bylaws. As a result, it will be subject to the modification process that is described in our current Chattanooga DSA bylaws (linked here):

"Proposed amendments to these Bylaws must be made by written resolution, endorsed by five members of Chattanooga DSA, and submitted to the Executive Committee at least a month in advance of a General or Regular Meeting. The Executive Committee is required to provide the Local Chapter membership with two weeks’ written notice of the proposed amendments. The amendment must be approved by a majority vote of two consecutive (Regular or General) Local Chapter meetings."

Please note that endorsement and voting are, as always, limited to those with official Chattanooga DSA membership. Chattanooga DSA members are those people who pay dues (or have a waiver in lieu of dues) to DSA.

This resolution garnered a total of 6 member endorsements at the October 2024 General Meeting. We are leaving endorsement open until midday November 21 for any additional DSA members who would like to sign on.If you would like to endorse this resolution, please follow this link and fill out the form ([link removed]) .

To emphasize, endorsement does not automatically modify any bylaws. Five endorsements do, however, start the voting process for bylaw modification.
