Email from Rep. Van Duyne Supporting Texas-24 small businesses... Irving, TX - I hope you're enjoying this beautiful fall weather! Recently, I met with Janet Jensen, founder and CEO of The Jensen Project, to discuss how their stabilization home is serving victims of sex trafficking by providing a midpoint for survivors between emergency housing and long-term care. I also had the opportunity to meet with Adrienne McLain, a Colleyville resident and volunteer with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. We discussed her child’s experience with cystic fibrosis and my work to ensure affordable access to highly specialized treatments. I enjoyed meeting with Chris from Giodell Syndication to discuss how they’re converting recaptured energy from data mining centers to electricity and how the industry is growing in North Texas. Tuesday, I held a tax-focused roundtable with two dozen local business owners. I’m working to renew and expand the successful Trump tax cuts so Texas-24 job creators can continue to reinvest in our community. You can read more about it in my Work of the Week section or learn more by clicking here. Wednesday morning, I toured St. Sarkis Armenian Church in Carrollton where we discussed the ongoing genocide in Armenia, heard from seniors who grew up in the region, and how the U.S. can further assist by putting pressure on Azerbaijan. On Thursday, I spoke with North Texans from the Construction Financial Management Association about upcoming DFW construction projects and how I’m working to lower costs for companies and consumers, as well as push back on upcoming Biden-Harris’ tax hikes. After, I met with Alcon Vision at our district office to discuss how expiring TCJA provisions would negatively impact the important research they are doing in the healthcare space, as well as certain IRS regulations that contradict legislation passed by Congress. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, I held a roundtable with two dozen North Texas business leaders to discuss expiring provisions of the TCJA, including the 199A deduction, which has helped companies grow and reinvest in our communities. I’m working to renew and expand key policies like these to continue supporting Texas-24 businesses. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Fort Worth resident and co-founder of TimelyCare, Luke Hejl. Luke has worked to bring crucial mental health services to college campuses to provide timely, high quality care for students. Congressional Veteran Commendation The deadline to submit Congressional Veteran Commendation nominations to our office has been extended to October 21, 2024 by 5:00pm CT. Through this program, we honor the distinguished veterans of Texas-24 and preserve their stories for future generations of Americans. Nominate a hero today. Rep. Van Duyne in the News Watch Rep.
