Friend -
As a mom, I’m always thinking about the world my kids will grow up in. And as much as I focus on the big, sweeping issues, there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years: *local* politics are where the real change happens.
It’s not just about who’s in the White House—it’s about who’s sitting on your city council, who’s deciding your school board policies, and who’s passing laws that shape the day-to-day lives of your family.
This election year, I can’t stress enough how important it is to vote for the down-ballot races. These races often get ignored, but the people who win these seats are the ones shaping our communities. And right now, we’ve seen a concerted effort from conservatives to stack local races and push through policies that erase our rights—whether it’s reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ protections, or racial equity. They know how much power is held at the local level, and it’s time we recognize it too.
The future of our towns, schools, and local services rests on the decisions made in these smaller races, and democracy? It’s not a spectator sport. It’s up to us to show up and make sure our voices are heard—not just in the big elections, but in every single race on the ballot.

Here’s how you can step up and help:
1.
Research
your
local
candidates:
Know
who’s
running
for

board,
city
council,
and

These
folks
impact
everything

curriculums
to
police
reform.
2.
Talk
to
your
neighbors:
Local
elections
can
be
won
or
lost
by
just
a
few
votes.
Encourage
your
friends
and
family
to
show
up
at
the
polls
and
remind
them
of
what’s
at
stake.
3.
Volunteer:
Help
local
candidates
who
share
your
progressive
values.
Knock
on
doors,
make
calls,
or
just
get
their
message
out
on
social
media.
This election is not just about the “big names” on the ticket. It’s about the people who will shape the fabric of our communities for years to come. Let’s make sure we’re putting the right people in those positions of power. Our democracy depends on it.
Stay active,

PowerPAC is a social justice organization that strategically directs financial and human resources to local and state organizations working to deliver wins in legislative fights, ballot initiatives, and more. For years the money we've raised has, dollar for dollar, been given back to the communities we work with. We've made sure that your investments were being used to build power for our communities because too often we are underrepresented and ignored.
