Taylor isn’t the only one in the news lately… Trump running-mate JD Vance also continues to make headlines for — seriously — doubling down (tripling? quadrupling?) on his comments about women without children being “sociopathic” and “deranged.”
Miserable cat ladies, he says! Well, contrary to what JD Vance thinks, neither Taylor Swift nor I are actually miserable. Nor do we think we deserve less of a voice in our democracy than any other American — unlike Vance.
At first glance, Vance’s comments are so absurd that they’re funny.
But the thing is, he’s not joking.
And when someone who’s in the running to be our nation’s next Vice President says stuff like this, we have to listen to what he’s really saying. Here’s my best attempt at a translation:
Women have to be married and have kids to be happy and functioning members of our society. We should define who gets to vote based on their parental status. Cats are bad (??!!).
Meanwhile, he’s also trying to take control of how people become parents in the first place, with positions that threaten to limit both IVF and birth control, not to mention other reproductive care.
If you’ve read this far and you agree that we can’t let JD Vance anywhere near the Vice Presidency, I hope you’ll consider chipping in to our campaign here in Virginia. We’re working around the clock to make sure VA’s 13 electoral votes go to Kamala Harris, not the Trump-Vance ticket — and that we can re-elect Tim Kaine to the U.S. Senate.
