Dear Ward 8 Residents,

Our city has been substantially shut down since March 16, 2020. With the closures of schools for the year and non-essential businesses, many residents have questions about how we safely open our city.

Mayor Muriel Bowser has created the ReOpen DC Advisory Group, made up of a Steering Committee and 11 Sector Committees to help envision and plan for a sustainable reopening through community-driven guidance, in accordance with the Johns Hopkins University report. The ReOpen DC Plan includes:
  • How to ReOpen DC toward its values and priorities.
  • Deployment of the best approaches and innovations from DC residents and leaders around the globe.
  • A phased reopening with mitigation guidelines by sector to ensure a safe and responsive process.
As we anticipate changes to our once "normal" way of life, I urge residents to provide feedback in the ReOpen DC Survey. We have a long road ahead towards recovery but, together, we will get back on track. Have a safe mother's day weekend and #stayhomedc.

Regards,

Trayon White, Sr.
Councilmember, Ward 8
