Supreme Court Preserves Campaign Finance Transparency for Voters

In a major win, the U.S. Supreme Court has declined to accept a case against a local election transparency law in San Francisco. By declining, this leaves in place disclosure requirements that will provide San Francisco voters with important information on who is spending to influence their vote, reaffirming the importance of transparency in all elections across the country.

Real transparency about who is spending big money on elections is critical for empowering voters and curbing the power of wealthy special interests to secretly influence our elections. Voters deserve to know who is involved in their elections, and wealthy special interests should not be able to hide from the public behind a shell company or anonymous organization.
