There's nothing patriotic about volatile bills and poorer health

The evidence on LNG is clear, and the numbers don't lie. Thousands of activists have already spoken out against LNG export terminals poisoning our children, spoiling our coastlines, and making our energy costs more volatile. Now, it's up to our lawmakers to listen.

TAKE ACTION

Hi—

This summer, 5,610 Evergreen activists called on our members of Congress to support the Biden-Harris administration’s historic liquified "natural" gas (LNG) pause and do everything they can to hasten a just transition to a clean energy future.

But with a new fossil industry-backed "study" cherry-picking data to mislead policymakers about the supposed economic benefits of LNG exports, we need to ensure decision-makers hear from us. We must demand that they stand up for our communities instead of getting swayed by bogus reports.

Will you send a message to your representatives in Congress right now? We're so close to our goal of 7,000 signers, and your voice can help put us over the top!

TELL CONGRESS: SUPPORT THE LNG PAUSE

LNG is often cloaked in patriotic rhetoric. But there's nothing American about hitting families with more volatile energy costs that come from relying on the global fossil fuel markets, foreign leaders, and the whims of fossil fuel CEOs.

And the health consequences of these polluting facilities are undeniable, especially for the predominantly Black, Brown, Indigenous, and low-income communities living steps and breaths away from them. Forced to inhale toxic air, residents suffer from burning and irritated airways, in addition to even more serious illnesses like cancer, kidney and heart disease, and asthma.

The Department of Energy (DOE) is still assessing whether or not LNG export terminals are in the "public interest" in an economic and environmental studies review that will inform what happens next. That's why we must keep urging our members of Congress to protect DOE's authority and oppose any measures that would expand new LNG exports.
