Democratic Candidates for Mayor of Jackson

Current Town Council members Jessica Sell Chambers and Arne Jorgensen are running to replace Hailey Morton Levinson, who is not standing for reelection.  Each has provided a statement explaining who they are and why they are running.  You can also visit their websites:

ARNE JORGENSEN

Jackson is a place with unique natural beauty and it is a place with an engaged, passionate population. I am running for mayor of Jackson because I am committed to preserving what makes Jackson unique while representing the diverse voices of all our people. Growing up here, my parents and mentors instilled in me a profound appreciation for our natural and built environment, teaching me the importance in considering both of these things while serving the public. It’s crucial we maintain and strengthen our sense of community, especially as we face large challenges of housing instability, protecting our natural resources, and ensuring that we have a great quality of life. As Mayor, I aim to bring everyone’s voice to the table and use my knowledge and understanding of our diverse perspectives to foster inclusive dialogue. I am excited to work toward a future that focuses on thriving as a community while honoring the place.

I humbly ask for the votes of our community based on my values and how I have shown up for all members of our community, particularly over my time on the Town Council. Examples of how I have conducted myself and how I would do so as Mayor include:
  • I do not lead by tearing down or embarrassing others but by supporting colleagues in finding common ground,

  • I fully embrace leadership that is quick to share success,

  • I am respectful of staff and the public as they engage with Council,

  • I am there for the work and am fortunate to have been able to attend nearly all of our meetings, and

I work hard to support all of my colleagues and Town staff to do all they need to take care of themselves and family.

Not all Democrats are created the same. I show up when it matters—especially when it’s hard. I’ve stood with firefighters, EMTs, volunteers, and their families, calling for accountability and the support they deserve. Leadership isn’t about sitting back or playing it safe—it’s about taking bold action when the stakes are high.

Reproductive rights carry different weight for male and female candidates—that’s why I don’t just campaign at reproductive rights fundraisers. I show up at the courthouse to support the brave folks challenging laws that wage war against women’s bodies. Jackson is a party in that lawsuit, and I’ll make sure we stay one to keep it in Teton County court—so yes, it is a local issue. When I asked our town’s legal team to explore what protections we can enact locally, my colleague didn’t support it. As a real advocate for women’s issues, I’ve shared my personal reproductive health story in a Guest Shot and my experiences as a sexual assault survivor with the public. This female Democrat shows up because “my body, my choice” is more than a slogan—it’s personal.

Jackson needs a mayor who tackles tough issues head-on and on-time—affordable housing, childcare, small business support, and keeping our workers and seniors in the community they love. I created the Equity Task Force to bring underrepresented voices into policymaking and fight for meaningful change. I reach across party lines because if locals rely on Cheyenne to make local changes, we’re not doing our jobs. If you want a leader who listens, leads decisively, and shows up when it counts, I’m your candidate. And even if you can’t vote in town, tell your friends who can. We can’t afford more of the same—vote for courageous action and real progress.

State Races Matter

Here in Teton County, we have no contested statewide races.  However, the enormous gains made by the extremist Freedom Caucus allied candidates in the primary, must not be repeated in the general.  These candidates are our best chance to stem the tide.  Please give what you can - every donation helps!
