Hello and welcome back to my weekly update!

It's been a busy week, the new government continues to progress in undoing the last 14 years of Tory chaos, and get on with delivering real change from the British People.

I've been hard at work in my new role as Public Health Minister, with meetings in the department and an appearance at the government dispatch box during Health & Social Care Questions.

Following the hard work in Westminster this week, I'm happy to be back in the constituency, doing what I enjoy most, meeting all the wonderful constituents that make our Gorton and Denton constituency.
HIGHLIGHTS
Health and Social Care Questions

The Conservative government left us with a myriad of crises, one of which is the shameful state of the NHS.

That's why myself and this government are going about the hard task of rebuilding the broken NHS, ensuring that more people will live longer, healthier and better lives.

Watch my contribution at Health and Social Care Questions on Tuesday.
Wright Robinson College's Awards Evening.

I had a lovely evening on Thursday at the Wright Robinson College's Awards Evening.

It was a joy to present so many excellent students with a range of awards.

A massive well done to all the pupils, and a big thank you to all the amazing teachers and support staff at this truly 'Outstanding' school.
Crowcroft Park Primary School

It was a pleasure to visit the wonderful Crowcroft Park Primary School and to see the important work they're doing to support children with complex educational needs.

It's always great to speak with hard-working teachers, and this government remains committed to supporting them, allowing our children to grow and thrive.
Breast Cancer Now 'Wear it Pink' & Auditory Verbal UK 'Loud Shirt Day'

This week in Parliament I had the opportunity to meet campaigners and staff from two amazing charities.

I dressed up in pink for Breast Cancer Now's 'Wear it Pink' campaign, which sees people across the country wear pink to raise money, all going towards vital research and support to stop breast cancer taking the lives of those we love.

You can get involved here: Breast Cancer Now's flagship fundraising campaign, Wear It Pink | Breast Cancer Now, and please donate or take part if you can!

I also donned a beautiful floral jacket for Auditory Verbal UK's campaign  'Loud Shirt Day' which asks people to wear something loud in October to raise money to better support deaf children.

You can learn more and get involved here: Loud Shirt Day UK | Home | Auditory Verbal (avuk.org), and once again, please donate or take part if you can.

Thank you to both outstanding charities for inviting me, keep up the good work!
All-Party Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health

It was my pleasure to address the inaugural meeting of the Smoking and Health APPG, organised by Action on Smoking and Health UK.

I outlined the Labour Government's bold plans to create a Smokefree country by 2030. Prevention will always be better than a cure, that's why we are re-introducing the Tobacco and Vapes Bill, ensuring that no one born after 2009 will ever legally be sold tobacco.

By taking action on these issues, we will create a healthier and fairer society, where everyone will live well, for longer.
