Team, Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump are holding congressional relief hostage in order to score political points.

McConnell recently had the audacity to suggest that cash-strapped state and local governments go bankrupt. And then, he shamefully derided aid for the hardest-hit states as a “blue state bailout.”

Meanwhile, his Republican allies cut special-interest groups and corporations bailout deals using federal funding that would be better spent helping communities on the front lines.

These are the stakes: if states and municipalities go bankrupt, that means firefighters, police, EMTs, teachers, and more essential public workers will be laid off. Ambulances might be a moment too late. Fire departments can’t reach emergencies fast enough. It could literally mean life or death.

There's no reason for us to bail out corporations but then tell states and municipalities to go bankrupt. Not only is it hypocrisy, it's an outrage.
