Volunteers from the state coordinating committee of the Poor People's Campaign in North Carolina conducting door-to-door canvassing to mobilize poor and low-income voters as part of the Get Out The Vote campaign.
Dear John,
Over the past month, the Poor People’s Campaign has reached millions of poor and low-income voters as part of our efforts to wake this sleeping giant ahead of this year’s elections.
In each of the so-called battleground states, poor and low-income voters made up several times the margin of victory during the 2020 presidential elections. That means they have the power to decide the outcome of this election and force America’s leaders to finally pay attention to the needs of the least of these.
In order to mobilize these voters, Poor People’s Campaign state organizing committees – which include poor and low-income voters themselves – have been canvassing, tabling, and conducting outreach in neighborhoods with high concentrations of poor and low-wage infrequent voters.
We also sent out over 8.7 million texts to poor and low-wage infrequent voters – including 1 million that were in Spanish.
All of this builds on the momentum created by the June 29th “Mass Poor People’s and Low-Wage Workers’ Assembly and Moral March on Washington D.C. and to the Polls,” where thousands of poor and low-income people and their allies assembled in the nation’s capital to demand that those in power embrace a moral agenda that lifts from the bottom.
Ahead of this year’s voting, we will also be partnering with Forward Justice and the Legal Defense Fund to make sure that every voter’s right to vote is protected.
UPCOMING EVENTS
On Oct. 21st, at 8:00 PM, we will be hosting a National Virtual Pep Rally featuring faith leaders, impacted people, and their allies as we work to mobilize 15 million of America’s over 135 million poor and low-wage persons during this year’s crucial elections. We encourage you to tune in and hear testimonies around the country from impacted people who will emphasize the importance of voting in this election to win a moral agenda that lifts from the bottom.
Click here to tune in to the livestream broadcast of the rally.
GET READY TO VOTE
As we approach this year’s election, it’s important to make sure you have everything you need to vote.
As a reminder, we’ve put together a voting education page to support you as you make preparations to vote. The page offers a variety of resources to prepare for this year’s elections, including:
A Voting Record: This voting record graphic will help you see where candidates and parties in every state stand on the big issues of the day, from raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour to lowering prescription drug prices. It offers detailed information about how they’ve voted on these issues in the past.
Voter Protection Resources: These resources include voter protection hotlines and websites for help if you face any issues voting. Trained experts will ensure you are able to cast a ballot.
Everything You Need to Vote: This graphic includes clickable links to essential resources, such as important deadlines for voting in your state, registration checks, absentee ballot requests, ballot previews ahead of time, finding local polling place locators, election reminders, and registration to vote.
We encourage you to share this page with your friends, family, and social networks. These resources will help guarantee that we can mobilize many poor and low-income infrequent voters during this year’s elections.
Click here to visit Vote.org/ppc to check your registration, register to vote, request an absentee ballot, check what’s on your ballot, and get election reminders to make sure you’re where you need to be on election day.
You can also help spread the word among your friends, family, and social networks.
