VIDEO OF THE DAY: Kamala shuts down pro-Trump MAGA heckler at rally
Vice President Harris brought down the house in Wisconsin with a mic drop for the ages. Roll the tape. [RETWEET THAT!]

RNC lawyer and former OAN personality Christina Bobb says the US needs a "cleansing" to "clean out the filth"
Bobb parlayed her role as a seditious "fake Trump elector" in 2020 into a bona fide RNC lawyer, and the one-time OAN talking head is ramping up the xenophobia and homophobia to 11. Bobb claims — again, with zero evidence — that Democrats are planning to steal the 2024 election in order to protect "pedophile rights" and called for a national "cleansing." Nope! Nothing problematic about that fascistic rhetoric! Let's definitely continue both-sidesing the most consequential election in modern American history.

New poll shows VP Harris and Trump NECK AND NECK in crucial swing state
WisDems: A new Emerson College poll shows presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris and would-be-dictator Trump tied at 47% in the absolutely-must-win swing state of Wisconsin. The road to the White House and a Senate majority runs through Wisconsin, and Wisconsin Democrats are building a state-wide get-out-the-vote grassroots organizing machine to knock on every door and visit every county for VP Harris. But they can't do it alone. Will you chip in to help the best state party in the country save our democracy from Trump and his radical Project 2025 cronies?
Election deniers and "fake electors" will return as Trump’s official electors in key states
Speaking of fake electors, more than a dozen people who were part of Trump's treasonous scheme in 2020 will serve as official electors for the MAGA cult leader in key swing states such as Pennsylvania, Nevada, Georgia, and Michigan later this fall. At least 14 of the 82 electors chosen to represent the Republican Party — and pledge their vote to Trump should their state vote that way — are tied to “fake elector” schemes in various states, some currently under criminal prosecution. Another 16 are election deniers who believe President Joe Biden won in 2020 because of mass fraudulent voting. When we say the future of democracy is at stake this election, this is exactly what we mean.

Texas Supreme Court blocks execution of autistic man in late-night ruling
Texas' high court has stayed the execution of a man on death row in a late-night ruling on the day of his scheduled lethal injection. Robert Roberson, 57, was convicted of killing his two-year-old daughter more than two decades ago, but his supporters across the US and the lead detective on the case have insisted he is innocent and that the case rested on junk science. A committee of more than 80 Texas lawmakers, including at least 30 Republicans, had asked the parole board and governor to stop the execution and had subpoenaed Roberson to testify next week in a last-ditch effort. A judge in Travis county, Texas, blocked the execution late on Thursday afternoon, less than two hours before it was scheduled to take place at the Texas state penitentiary in Huntsville, so Roberson could testify.

Right-wing influencers hyped anti-Ukraine videos made by a TV producer also funded by Russian media
Ben Swann, a self-described "investigative journalist," has built the kind of Vladimir Putin fanboy career that would make Tucker Carlson blush, were he, ya know, warm-blooded. Unlike other conservative media personalities who last month expressed shock upon learning they may have been secretly financed by the Kremlin, Swann has openly and unapologetically worked for Russia’s state-owned media empire for years, with one of his companies earning millions of dollars in exchange for producing Putin-friendly shows that also conveniently disparage and smear Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Swann is no fringe character on the right, mind you. The Russian pawn has many admirers in Republican circles, including Donald Trump Jr., who boosted Swann's pro-Kremlin propaganda to millions of his social media followers in April. The revelations about Swann’s work for Russia come as US authorities have issued increasingly dire warnings about the threat posed by Russian disinformation campaigns. In addition to undermining Ukraine, the Kremlin is seeking to disrupt the presidential election and sow discord in the US and elsewhere in the West, officials have repeatedly warned.

Columnist warns of Trump's "obvious cognitive slippage"
A Boston Globe columnist is sounding the alarm over the MAGA cult leader's "obvious cognitive slippage" as the 78-year-old convicted felon faces growing questions over his mental acuity. Kimberly Atkins Stohr, a senior opinion writer at the newspaper, wrote that Trump’s "diminishing cognitive ability can’t be ignored." She pointed to a recent appearance where Trump was asked about the cost of child care and "rambled incomprehensibly for nearly two minutes without answering the question. The lack of context, or even complete sentences, made his comments as clear as mud," Atkins Stohr wrote. "But what was crystal clear was the decline in the former president’s ability to hold a train of thought, speak coherently, or demonstrate a command of the English language, to say nothing of policy." Uh, ya think?

Tennessee judges say doctors can’t be disciplined for providing emergency abortions
A three-judge panel on Thursday ruled that Tennessee doctors who provide emergency abortions to protect the life of the pregnant woman cannot have their medical licenses revoked or face other disciplinary actions while a lawsuit challenging the state’s sweeping abortion ban continues. The ruling also outlined specific pregnancy-related conditions that would now qualify as "medical necessity exceptions" under the ban, which currently does not include exceptions for fetal anomalies or for victims of rape or incest. "This lack of clarity is evidenced by the confusion and lack of consensus within the Tennessee medical community on the circumstances requiring necessary health- and life-saving abortion care," the ruling stated. "The evidence presented underscores how serious, difficult, and complex these issues are and raises significant questions as to whether the medical necessity exception is sufficiently narrow to serve a compelling state interest." It's almost as if doctors and patients should make these sorts of decisions, not ideologues and politicians.
NRA take a dig at Tim Walz and it totally backfires
The scandal-plague NRA was mercilessly mocked online for allegedly getting the facts wrong on a video claiming vice presidential candidate Tim Walz doesn't know how to use a shotgun. One might think an organization purportedly dedicated to the responsible use of firearms would be able to tell the difference between someone loading or unloading a shotgun, but for the nakedly political goons running the activist organization's social media accounts, that was a bridge too far. Not-so-fun fact: There have been 420 mass shootings and 24 gun-related mass murders in 2024 so far. Really good to see where the NRA's priorities lie this (and every other) election season.
