Victory! Austin ISD Cancels Radical Sex-Ed Curriculum For School Year

In response to an urgent letter sent by Texas Values to Austin ISD this week, the district has stated they are not going to teach their radical sex education curriculum this school year as originally planned. Our letter encouraged the district to keep parents informed, delay teaching the radical sex education, and instead focus on core education topics.

This is a tremendous victory for a broad coalition of parents and concerned citizens who have fought side by side with Texas Values for over a year to protect Austin children and stop the district’s new, radical curriculum passed last year. While the fight will have to continue next year, we are encouraged that Austin ISD has chosen to scrap their plans this school year to teach this dangerous, radicalized sex education promoted by LGBTQ and abortion ideologues and an out of control local government.

Gov. Abbott Announces More Openings, Clarifies Weddings and Funerals

At a press conference this week, Governor Greg Abbott announced the expansion of business openings across Texas and provided clarifications impacting churches. Starting today, May 8, cosmetology salons, hair salons, barber shops, nail salons and shops, and other establishments where licensed cosmetologists or barbers practice their trade, may open with some restrictions. And beginning May 18, gyms, non-essential manufacturing services, and office buildings will be able to open with 25% occupancy restrictions.

Governor Abbott also clarified that weddings, funerals, burials and memorial services may be conducted under the same guidelines as for church worship services regarding social distancing and hygiene practices. The Governor also announced that wedding venues and services required to conduct weddings may immediately open with some occupancy restrictions. Please read the updated Texas Church Reopening FAQ on our website to get important questions answered on how these new guidelines impact churches.

Happy Mother’s Day From Texas Values

“Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.” - Proverbs 31:28-29

Mother’s Day is this coming Sunday, May 10, and our entire Texas Values team would like to pause and honor all the moms across our great state. We thank our mothers for the sacrifices they make to care and love our families. Be sure to take a moment and thank your mother, a mother-like figure in your life, and all the mothers you know. Happy Mother's Day from Texas Values!
