Good morning Democrats,

This week's newsletter is packed full of opportunities for you to engage in this very important election. We are only three days away from the beginning of early voting! Thankfully, power has been restored to our office and we are hosting non-stop events in person, online and out in our community. And we need your help!

Canvassing and phone banking remain our top priorities. We also recognize that there are additional ways our volunteers wish to take action. Therefore, we are sharing a NEW opportunity below to volunteer at our Democrats of Indian River tent on priority days at early voting locations across our county. We will also continue to host sign waving events up until the election.

Help us make sure every Democrat has a plan to vote and is empowered with the information they need to elect proud Democrats down the entire ticket. We also welcome donations to support our initiatives.

If you have received your mail-in-ballot, please return your ballot ASAP. Voting as early as possible helps our Democratic candidates narrow their focus and enables them to conduct more effective outreach to voters.

And finally, Jamie Raskin has a message for Democrats on the Treasure Coast. We've link it below.

Canvass with Us
In addition to our canvassing events shared below, we are also pleased to now offer NEW Grab & Go Bundles! Swing by the office during office hours to pick up a bundle to canvass at a time that works for you. When you've completed that bundle, drop off your turf map and pick up another one. It's that simple!
RSVP HERE
New Canvassing events have also been added! Come join our canvassing team to knock on Democrats' doors in Indian River County. We will be speaking with voters to share candidate information and encourage them to get out to vote. If you are a Spanish speaker we need your help too. No experience is necessary and training is provided.
Tenting at the Polls
Volunteers are needed to take shifts at our Democrats of Indian River tent located outside early voting locations. Volunteers will be outside to provide slate cards and answer questions for voters.

NEW Event Dates Sunday October 27th

Due to circumstances resulting from the local tornado and hurricane damage, we are rescheduling our caravan and volunteer appreciation events for Sunday, October 27. We look forward to seeing you there!

CARAVAN RSVP HERE

First, join us for an exciting day of unity and fun as we go cruising for Democrats during our caravan event for Indian County Democrats!

We’ll kick off our journey by staging at a local park to bring together supporters from across Indian River County. Wave your flags, honk your horns, and show your Democratic spirit as we caravan together, making our voices heard!

Our caravan will end in Vero Beach where the Democrats of Indian River have planned a special volunteer appreciation event complete with food and beverages.

VOLUNTEER EVENT RSVP HERE

Then, it's time to celebrate YOU! The Indian River County Democrats and Democratic Club of Indian River would like to invite our dedicated volunteers to a special appreciation event. Join us for an afternoon of fun, food, and gratitude!

We’ll have a delicious Taco Bar, refreshing beer, sangria (feel free to BYOB if you'd like), lemonade, and desserts to enjoy. This is a great opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers, reflect on all the hard work we’ve done and plan our path forward as we approach Election Day—it will be only 15 days away!

Please RSVP so we can ensure there is enough food for everyone.

We appreciate all your efforts, and together, we are making a difference. Let’s celebrate our commitment to winning and making our voices heard!

VP Harris Opportunity Agenda for Black Men
Vice President Kamala Harris launched a groundbreaking Opportunity Agenda aimed at empowering Black men across America. This initiative focuses on providing the tools necessary for financial freedom, lowering living costs, and protecting rights.

Key Components of the Agenda:

  • Small Business Loans: 1 million forgivable loans of up to $20,000 for Black entrepreneurs to help launch and grow their businesses.
  • Education and Training: Programs to secure good-paying jobs in high-demand industries and pathways to become teachers.
  • Digital Asset Regulation: A framework to protect Black investors in cryptocurrency and digital assets.
  • National Health Equity Initiative: Addressing health issues like sickle cell disease and diabetes that disproportionately affect Black men.
  • Legalizing Recreational Marijuana: Creating opportunities in the emerging cannabis industry.

In contrast, former President Donald Trump’s agenda threatens to increase costs and undermine protections for working families. A potential second term for Trump could bring back harmful policies and further divide communities.

Vice President Harris’s Opportunity Agenda represents a clear commitment to uplift and empower Black men. The choice is between a path toward opportunity or a return to division. Let’s vote for a future where everyone can thrive!

PROJECT 2025

Project 2025 is an extreme blueprint for MAGA extremists in Congress and a future conservative presidential administration. As we face horrific hurricanes, Project 2025 proposes cutting federal funding for weather forecasting. Here are stories to keep an eye on as we learn more about the plan’s anti-democratic agenda:

Project 2025 would ‘unequivocally’ lead to more hurricane deaths, experts warn. Manifesto calls for drastic cuts to federal forecasting of severe storms and aid given to shattered towns and cities. Under Project 2025, authored by numerous former Trump officials but disavowed by the former president himself, the federal forecasting of severe storms and aid given to shattered towns and cities would be drastically scaled back. Emergency management officials say the cuts would severely worsen the outcomes from a storm like Helene.

Organizers Brace for Resurrection of “Zombie” Abortion Laws. Under a Trump presidency, the DOJ would likely have a different view [on enforcement of Comstock Act], especially since Project 2025 explicitly calls for the enforcement of the Comstock Act “against providers and distributors of [abortion] pills.” Additionally, the spate of radical, far-right judges Trump appointed during his first term have already proven their willingness to ignore existing case law to curb access to abortion.

Yes on 4 is looking for volunteers to participate in their weekly phone banks every Thursday 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. EST.
