When I was a child, I had a severe illness that put me in the hospital for three months. Even though I fully recovered, my grandparents who raised me were unable to get me insurance at any price because I had this previous illness.

Look, I know what it's like to be denied health coverage. So you can imagine my frustration with the Trump administration for denying a special federal enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act during this public health crisis.

Millions of Americans are uninsured and anxious, not only about what this pandemic could mean for their health and that of their loved ones, but also for their financial stability.

Opening up the ACA marketplace would provide these folks with an easy pathway to comprehensive coverage to protect themselves, their families, and their community.

That’s why I’m demanding the Trump administration open a special enrollment period for the ACA during this global health crisis.
