We want to share an inspiring story that highlights the incredible difference your support makes to the lives of women like Amarech.
Growing up in rural Ethiopia, Amarech dreamed of a brighter future in the city. However, after moving to Addis Ababa with her husband to start their family, she began to experience debilitating eye pain. Despite visiting various health clinics, she lost hope of ever finding a solution.
When Amarech and her family returned to her hometown, she stumbled upon an Orbis-supported clinic that changed her life. “I was very surprised to find the answer I had sought for so many years in my small town,” she shared.
Amarech was diagnosed with trachoma, an infectious eye disease that, if left untreated, can lead to permanent vision loss.
Thanks to people like you, Amarech received the surgery she desperately needed. Now pain-free, she is filled with hope for her future.
