I wanted to make sure you got this update from my team.
Earlier this week, my opponent Jay Obernolte refused to wear a mask at a well-attended committee meeting -- putting dozens of lives at risk.
Normally, I wouldn't be so fired up about this. But over the years Jay has displayed such a clear pattern of disregarding science and health experts that I needed to call this out.
I want to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed a donation to this email. If you haven't yet, read our note highlighting just a few of the reasons Jay is unfit for office, then chip in to help us defeat him.

Subject: Update: More science denialism from our opponent
Our opponent is at it again, John:
This week, Assemblyman Jay Obernolte drew sharp criticism for ignoring health guidelines and refusing to wear a mask at a committee meeting in the State Capitol. The meeting lasted several hours, and a pregnant colleague of his was also in attendance.
We need to be very clear: This dismissal of health guidelines is only the latest example of Obernolte's denial of basic science:
- Just a few weeks ago, Obernolte downplayed the threat of Coronavirus, and critiqued COVID-19 data from John Hopkins.
- Jay Obernolte also happens to be OPPOSED to vaccination requirements in schools and daycare centers.
- He's also in opposition to extending health care benefits to children.
Jay is not equipped to help the country manage this crisis and take a fact-based approach in Congress. The good news is we have a rare opportunity to change the status quo and elect Chris Bubser in CA-08, but we need your help to do it:
