John,
This current moment in history has reached a level of barbarity that many of us could never have imagined.
We're watching ordinary people – Democrats, Independents, and even Republicans – come to terms with something they can no longer stomach.
What’s happening in Gaza is beyond politics; it’s about basic human decency, and whether or not we can live with what’s happening. And the overwhelming majority of Americans are saying that they can’t.
Just this week, we saw the brutal attack on Al Aqsa Hospital, Israel withdrawing from ceasefire talks as they prepare to annex Gaza, and a State Department letter granting Israel another 30 days to “review” its promises, while civilians are burned alive in their hospital beds.
How have we strayed so far from morality when most Americans oppose our tax dollars funding this violence, yet the Biden administration and members of Congress – like my opponent – continue to arm an extremist government engaged in indiscriminate killing?
Our campaign is about standing up for human rights, wherever they’re being threatened.
This isn’t about left or right – this is about holding the line on what’s just and moral.
AIPAC and the United Democracy Project (their Republican-funded Super PAC) know this, which is why they’ve chosen my race as the FIRST general election race they’ve poured their money into.
Already, they’ve spent over $400,000 on independent expenditures in our district alone, with ANOTHER $120K more funneled directly to my opponent, Jimmy Gomez.
If you believe in accountability, if you believe that your tax dollars shouldn’t go to fund atrocities, then I’m asking you to contribute today to elect a candidate who isn’t afraid to stand up to special interests and do what’s right.
We can’t sit by while corporate-funded candidates like Jimmy Gomez write the checks and ship the bombs. This is about more than just winning a race – it’s about electing leaders who will fight to stop the bloodshed, here and abroad.
Let’s be clear: the horrors we’re seeing in Gaza, and the promise of continued bloodshed, are exactly what AIPAC is paying Jimmy for. It’s not a coincidence that despite our district’s overwhelming support of a ceasefire, Jimmy Gomez has refused to sign on to the Congressional ceasefire resolution.
Their dollars are supporting a candidate who’s silent in the face of murder, who toes the line while innocent civilians die.
You may have noticed we’ve been talking about Gaza a lot lately – and some may ask why.
Because it's all connected to the problems we're trying to solve here at home.
The billions of dollars we've shipped to Israel to commit atrocities are billions we didn't spend guaranteeing housing for our unhoused neighbors. That's money we didn't spend investing in our schools or expanding healthcare.
When the corporate Democrats refuse to speak out against this kind of violence, when they prioritize power over people, we see the results both overseas and in our local communities.
This is a crisis of conscience, and if we don’t act now, the consequences will be even more catastrophic than they have already been.
We’ve been given a chance to make a real difference in our district. We can elect a leader who will refuse to be silent – who refuses to be bought or bullied by special interests.
But we need your help to push back against the corporate money trying to silence us.
Contribute today, and let’s fight for the kind of leadership that reflects our values, not the interests of AIPAC and the military-industrial complex.
It’s time for us,
David Kim
PS: Thanks to everyone who pitched in the last few weeks, we’ve met our goal of $100K before Election Day! So we DOUBLED our goal. Can you pitch in now, whether it’s $5 or $50, to help us talk to every voter TWICE?
