Reproductive healthcare is necessary healthcare — but in many states, extremist Republicans have stripped this fundamental freedom from millions of people. Thankfully, today, abortion access remains safe and legal thanks to our razor-thin Democratic majority in the State House that stopped Pennsylvania Republicans’ anti-choice agenda in its tracks.
Under my leadership, the State House has passed numerous bills to protect and expand our fundamental right to reproductive healthcare. For example, we passed House Bill 1786 to protect Americans seeking abortion services in PA from being criminally penalized by other states and House Bill 1140 which would create state-level protections for contraception.
So far, we’ve been able to keep abortion accessible to Pennsylvanians. But if Republicans gain a majority in the State House and total control of the General Assembly, our reproductive rights will be in jeopardy.
