Friend,
I’ve seen the best of Richmond during this crisis. This city is selfless. It is kind. It is resilient.
Right now, our nurses and teachers are the backbone of this fight against COVID-19. Without their dedication, their nerve, and – for nurses – their sacrifice, our city wouldn't be able to face these challenging times.
Nurses are showing up each day to serve their patients. What they are going through is unimaginable – working long hours, dealing with shortages of crucial supplies, helping patients who have no one else to turn to – all while shouldering the emotional burden of working during a pandemic.
Our teachers' lives were also upended. With our schools temporarily shuttered, our educators have rallied together to rush supplies to students and keep class in session for our kids. Because of their dedication, Richmond students have continued to expand their horizons safely from home and have a sense of normalcy even when so much is still uncertain.
No words can describe my gratitude for our teachers and nurses. They are a part of what makes us RVAStrong. For National Nurses Week and Teacher Appreciation Week, please join me in thanking our nurses and teachers who do so much for our community every single day. Sign the card

I am so honored to lead this city – and the nurses and teachers who continually put others before themselves.
Thank you,
Levar
