Dear John:
Yesterday, I was honored to host a critical conversation between Senator Elizabeth Warren, city leaders, and five New York City workers on the frontlines of this pandemic to hear about why we need an Essential Workers Bill of Rights, in NYC and Washington DC.
More than 1,500 people tuned in to hear the stories of these workers, and about how they can join the fight here in NYC and nationally.

This is what your grassroots donations are supporting: advocacy and policymaking that listens to, lifts up, and amplifies the voices of those who are too-often ignored in NYC politics.
If you’re able, please chip in $5 or any amount so we can keep holding events like these and bring new leadership to the NYC Comptroller’s office next year -- your donation will be MATCHED 8-to-1 by public financing → [[link removed]]

Earlier this week, the NYC Council held a seven-hour hearing on the proposed NYC Essential Workers Bill of Rights, during which lobbyists from the “other” NRA (National Restaurant Association) and corporations like Amazon railed against these worker protections.
That made Thursday’s call with Senator Warren even more powerful. With your help, we created a forum for one of the most influential political leaders and workers’ rights champions in the country to hear directly from a hospital pharmacy tech, a Stop and Shop employee, an Uber driver, a Chipotle employee, and a sanitation worker about what conditions are like in their workplaces.
Senator Warren asked them: “What would make you feel protected and valued in your workplace?” and we listened intently to their answers about how hazard pay, paid sick leave, and workplace protections would make a big difference as they take on the risks of going to work to keep our city running.
As Senator Warren put it: “You’ve always had America’s back. Now it’s time for America to have yours.”
It was an honor to host Senator Warren, and exciting to share the space with so many people who are fighting for our collective vision of a more just economy. Putting events like this on takes resources (we had to upgrade our Zoom account four times in the last months to support these events!) And we are going to keep doing it, to lift up the voices of those on the front lines of this crisis. Please help ensure we can follow through on electing pro-worker advocates to city leadership next year.
We’re the only campaign in our race not taking money from the real estate industry or corporate interests, which makes your grassroots support even more important. Can you chip in $5 or any amount so we can continue to advocate for workers, now and in the future? [[link removed]]
