In one week, on October 24, the Colorado Supreme Court will hear a groundbreaking case for elephants’ right to liberty.
For Jambo, Kimba, LouLou, Lucky, and Missy, this case is a chance at freedom. Taken from their herds as babies, they have spent their lives in captivity. Now, we’re asking the court to recognize what science already affirms: these elephants are autonomous, self-determining individuals who deserve to have their right to liberty recognized under the law.
This is the first case of its kind in Colorado—a pivotal moment not only for our clients, but for all elephants who suffer in captivity. But we can’t do it alone. As we approach this final stretch, we need your help.
