All you need is proficiency in both English and any other language.

John,

People in immigration proceedings are not guaranteed legal assistance to help them get out of detention or pursue their immigration rights. We’re seeking more volunteer interpreters to help us change that.

Our Immigration Justice Campaign (IJC) works to fill critical gaps in legal representation. IJC works with people in detention and LGBTQ asylum seekers to help them get the legal support they deserve. We connect volunteer attorneys and interpreters with individuals who need lawyers, and we’re looking for more volunteer interpreters.

You don’t need formal interpretation experience to take a case with us. And you don’t need special knowledge of legal terms. All you need is proficiency in both English and any other language.

If you’d like to sign up for our pool of volunteer interpreters, you can apply to volunteer on our website. Volunteer attorneys can sign up using the same link.

And if you’re not able to volunteer with us right now, you can still make a difference with IJC as a grassroots advocate. Join the IJC email list to learn about targeted opportunities to take action.

We hope to see you soon in the Immigration Justice Campaign.

Sincerely,

Bekah Wolf
Director of the Immigration Justice Campaign
