John, I know you’re getting a lot of emails right now. But I’d greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to read this one.
Democrats are just 4 seats away from flipping the House blue. It's hard to see us flipping the House blue if we don’t win here in NE-2: We were just 2.6% shy of winning this district in 2022 and multiple polls show us taking the lead over Republican Don Bacon. But this race alone won’t decide House control.
That’s why I’m asking if you’ll join me in supporting five other Democratic scientists (featured below) running in five of the most competitive red-to-blue House races. Polling shows they are virtually all tied, all of them are rated as toss-ups by election experts all across the country, and all of them have had elections decided by less than 2.6% of the vote in the past couple of years.
Many of us are facing record levels of GOP spending in the final stretch of the election and need your help to reach every last voter before Election Day: If we win, we flip the House.
Donate with the election 19 days away and your donation will be split directly between my campaign, Christina Bohannan (IA-1), Dr. Amish Shah (AZ-1), Janelle Bynum (OR-5), George Whitesides (CA-27), John Mannion (NY-22), and our friends at 314 Action.
Christina Bohannan (IA-1) – Christina is an environmental engineer and law professor who defeated a 20-year incumbent to secure a seat in the Iowa State Legislature.
In 2020, Republicans flipped this seat from blue to red by the slimmest margin of any House race in nearly an entire century – a margin of just 6 votes (0.01% of the vote). And polling confirms it could be just as competitive this November.
Normington, Petts & Associates Poll: Bohannan 47% – Miller-Meeks 47%

Dr. Amish Shah (AZ-1) – Amish is an Emergency Room physician at the Mayo Clinic of Arizona and State Representative who had the most bills signed into law of any Arizona Democrat of the past decade.
In 2022, Republicans barely defended this seat by a margin of just 3,195 votes (which was less than 1% of the vote). It could be even closer this time around. In 2020, Joe Biden won this district by 1.5%.
Impact Research Poll: Shah 48% – Schweikert 48%
|
Janelle Bynum (OR-5) – Janelle is an electrical engineer, small business owner, and former State Representative who has defeated Republican Lori Chavez-DeRemer (who she is now running against) not once but twice at the state level.
In 2022, Republicans flipped this seat from blue to red by a razor-thin margin of just 2.1% of the vote. In 2020, Joe Biden won this district by 8.8% of the vote – one of the largest margins of any House seat actively held by a Republican.
Noble Predictive Insights Poll: Bynum 43% – Chavez-DeRemer 42%
|
George Whitesides (CA-27) – George is an aerospace expert who served as the Chief of Staff for NASA under President Barack Obama, served as CEO of the spaceflight company Virgin Galactic, and co-founded a group to address wildfire disasters.
In 2020, Republicans flipped this seat from blue to red by a razor-thin margin – just 333 votes (a margin of 0.1% of the vote). In 2020, Joe Biden won this district by a massive margin of 12.4% of the vote – more than almost any other House district currently represented by a Republican.
University of Southern California Poll: Whitesides 48% – Garcia 46%

John Mannion (NY-22) – John is a former science teacher who won a highly competitive State Senate seat on Republican turf by just 10 votes to win a seat in the New York State Legislature.
In 2022, Republicans barely defended this House seat by a razor-thin margin of just 2,631 votes (which is less than 1% of the vote!).
In 2020, Joe Biden won this district by a margin of 7.4% of the vote – which is part of the reason the National Journal labeled this as the best red-to-blue pickup opportunity in the United States!
