We’ve entered a critical moment in this election with early voting beginning. We’re in the fight of our lives for the future of public education. Now, extremist groups like Moms for Liberty are ramping up their efforts to push their dangerous agenda into school boards across the country. And, unfortunately, they’ve already seen too much success.

One particularly troubling development is the Vermillion Education curriculum, which is linked to the far-right Christian nationalist Hillsdale College. This curriculum has been pushed by Moms for Liberty and extremist allies like Bridget Ziegler in Florida. Thankfully, in some places like Sarasota, these attempts have failed, but they’re determined to bring this dangerous model to school districts nationwide—including right here in Michigan.

Michigan's school districts are smaller than those in Florida, but the threat is no less real. Many of our school boards may be nonpartisan, but the influence of Moms for Liberty is creeping into our communities. We cannot allow them to succeed in taking over our local education systems and pushing their harmful agenda on our kids.
