** MEDIA ADVISORY: First Lady Cathy Justice to welcome next therapy dog to Belington Middle School tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.

WHO: First Lady Cathy Justice, Barbour County Schools Superintendent Eddie Vincent, Belington Middle School Principal Ben Shew, Barbour County Schools board members, local officials.

WHAT: First Lady Cathy Justice will introduce Gia, a female Golden Retriever, the 39th therapy dog to be placed as part of her Friends With Paws initiative.

WHEN: Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: Belington Middle School
469 Morgantown Pike, Belington, WV 26250
The Friends With Paws program ([link removed]) is a partnership between the Governor’s Office, West Virginia Communities In Schools Nonprofit, and the West Virginia Department of Education. Therapy dogs will be placed in CIS program schools where students are disproportionately affected by poverty, substance misuse, or other at-risk situations, and are in the greatest need of a support animal. The dogs will serve as a healthy and friendly outlet for these students to address trauma and other social-emotional issues.
