NRDC + Courts = Victories for Our Environment

No matter how brazenly the Trump administration attacks our clean air and
water, wildlands and wildlife, public health, and climate, NRDC will
respond in court with boldness and determination thanks to support from
good friends like you.

pro-polluter allies. [ [link removed] ]And consider making a tax-deductible donation so

NRDC Activist,

While the world continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic, NRDC
remains committed to the fight to protect our health, our environment, and
our climate — and we continue to file critical lawsuits against the Trump
administration and win important cases.

Today, I want to share some positive news about courtroom victories we've
recently racked up against Trump and his pro-polluter agencies — victories
that protect our health and the environment and that I know will make
supporters like you proud.

[ [link removed] ]And it's why we need you to make a contribution to support these
efforts. Every gift you make goes right to work defending our environment
in the most effective way possible.

"One Courtroom Victory At a Time"

NRDC has filed 111 lawsuits since Trump stepped into office and have won
an astonishing 90% of the cases that have been resolved so far. Here are
just a few of the recent legal victories made possible by your
environmental commitment:

BIG victory for the critically endangered Vaquita: Our repeated
legal wins in the U.S. Court of International Trade and the
Federal Court of Appeals pressured the Trump administration to
[ [link removed] ][IMG] place an embargo on Mexican seafood caught with gillnets that
kill vaquita, the world's smallest porpoise. With only 10
vaquitas remaining today, banning imports of seafood from Mexico
is essential to its survival and recovery. [ [link removed] ][Read More]

species, and our environment in the most effective way possible.

Another defeat for the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline: This
dangerous, climate-busting pipeline would carry up to 830,000
barrels per day of some of the dirtiest crude oil on the planet
across the heartland of America. The Army Corps of Engineers
[ [link removed] ][IMG] tried to fast-track approvals for pipelines like Keystone XL
without adequately analyzing these projects' impacts on local
waterways, lands and wildlife, and communities. Not only did the
court side with us — finding the Corps' actions unlawful — but it
also prohibited the Trump administration from using this
fast-tracked approval process for Keystone XL! [ [link removed] ][Read More]

oil pipeline and other Big Oil projects that threaten our environment.

Trump's EPA loses & science wins: Last month, the EPA suffered a
major defeat in its war on science when a federal court ruled
that the agency must stop barring independent scientists from
serving on its advisory committees. The EPA acted arbitrarily,
the court said, in issuing a directive that disqualified
scientists who receive research grants from the EPA — mainly
scientists from universities and other not-for-profit
[ [link removed] ][IMG] institutions — on the pretext of potential bias. But EPA's policy
allowed scientists, consultants and others who receive funding
from the chemical and fossil fuel industries to serve on these
advisory boards. The court invalidated this policy aimed at
weakening the role of science in protecting the public from
harmful chemicals and pollution. With an ongoing pandemic and two
back-to-back defeats, we're pressuring the EPA to put science
back in charge of protecting public health. [ [link removed] ][Read More]

[ [link removed] ]Chip in with a gift today to help us stop Trump's attack on science as
we work to protect our air, water, climate, wildlife, and health.

Putting limits back on climate-busting HFCs: In another legal
victory against the Trump administration's efforts to undermine
environmental safeguards, the U.S. Court of Appeals restored
limits on super climate-busting hydrofluorocarbons (HFC). For
[ [link removed] ][IMG] years, companies switched from ozone-depleting
chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) to super-potent, heat-trapping HFCs.
As we move more aggressively to confront the climate crisis, the
EPA must now do its job and ensure that companies transition
away from ozone-depleting substances to alternatives that are
safer for our climate. [ [link removed] ][Read More]

[ [link removed] ]Make a donation today, and we'll put it right to work to win more
court cases, hold the EPA accountable, and fight to protect our climate.

Banning toxic pesticides that harm pets and kids: For over a
decade, NRDC has been fighting in court to ban the use of the
toxic pesticide TCVP in pet collars. In recent years, the EPA
finally acknowledged TCVP's health dangers as this toxic
chemical can harm children's brains and nervous systems. But the
[ [link removed] ][IMG] agency failed to remove this dangerous pet product from the
market. Thankfully, the U.S. Court of Appeals found that the
EPA's years-long delay on this critical health threat "has been
nothing short of egregious", marking an important victory for
children's health across the country, 10 years in the making.

protect public health from toxic pesticides.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

NRDC won these cases, but we're still engaged in dozens of other court
battles against the Trump administration on your behalf.

Because even while the world is transforming as a result of this pandemic,
the Trump administration hasn't stopped pushing devastating rollbacks that
undermine critical pollution safeguards, cripple our progress in defeating
climate change, and create new health risks for people at a time when
public health is a major concern for all.

Currently, we're fighting in court to save countless birds by reversing
Trump's dangerous rollback of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

We've brought a lawsuit against the Trump administration's unlawful
decision to remove Clean Water Act protections from many wetlands and
streams that flow into larger water bodies that provide drinking water for
millions.

And we're suing the Trump administration to block their repeal of the
Clean Power Plan and to stop their efforts to dramatically weaken the
Endangered Species Act.

These are just a few of the dozens and dozens of lawsuits NRDC has brought
against Trump anti-environmental attacks, and they're why your support of
our mission is paramount to our success. So, when you sign a petition,
spread the word to your friends and family, or even [ [link removed] ]make a generous
contribution to support our efforts, it's your actions that make all our
legal victories (and future wins!) possible. And I hope you'll continue to
support us in the years to come.

Thank you very much.

Sincerely,
