I wanted to be sure you saw that Senator Elizabeth Warren endorsed Abby!
This was especially meaningful to me as it's my former boss endorsing my fianceé! Yes, I worked for Senator Warren for over a year, advising her presidential campaign as her Iowa Political Director -- and Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer is my best friend, my fianceé, and we are looking forward to getting married later this summer!
I'm reaching out to you today to see if you can continue your support for Abby. Her race is one of the closest in the country, and we're counting on people who care about our shared vision for Iowa to step up and chip in to our campaign.
For those of you who don’t know her well, Abby is incredible. Before running for Congress, she served two terms in the Iowa Legislature. At the age of 29, she became the youngest woman ever to flip a congressional seat and was one of the first two women ever elected to Congress from Iowa. Once elected, she was the first freshman member to pass a bill, the youngest woman to ever chair a subcommittee, and has fought daily to improve the lives of Iowans.
None of this was easy, but Abby is a fighter. When Abby decided to run for Congress, Donald Trump had just won her congressional district by 5 points, and the Republican incumbent had been re-elected by nearly 8 points. Abby was laughed out of rooms, because potential donors and voters thought that she was too young, or that a woman simply couldn’t win this seat. Nevertheless, she persisted.
When Abby flipped Iowa’s 1st Congressional District in 2018, winning by 5%, she didn’t take a victory lap or tell people “I told you so,” she got to work. She ran for Congress because Iowans were hurting and they needed a true representative in Congress who had their best interest in mind.
