I feel a little like a broken record telling people that this is the most important election of our lives. I said that two years ago, and I said it two years before that...

Dear John,

I feel a little like a broken record telling people that this is the most important election of our lives. But the truth is, every election is the most important election of our lives because of what is at stake every year.

As a member of the NC House of Representatives, I see firsthand the blatant attacks on our environment, the assault on our democracy, and how the supermajority has worked at every turn to rig the rules in order to hold on to their power.

And for what? The budget last session nearly derailed because one person in power wanted casinos. A budget that, had it not passed, would have meant less funding for the Department of Environmental Quality to ensure water and air protections and less funding for those who have the most need and the least access. That isn’t how you run North Carolina!

I know, like me, you care about the environment. But I also know that you care about the right to free and fair elections.

The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters cares about these things too, which is why I am proud not to just have received their endorsement, but also to support them. With our support, they are working hard every day to elect pro-conservation candidates and hold our elected leaders accountable for the things that we know make North Carolina a great place to work, live, and raise a family. NCLCV also works to educate voters and register new voters.

We have an amazing opportunity this November and because of NCLCV’s work in our state of North Carolina, we can elect a pro-conservation governor and break the supermajority in the North Carolina House. But NCLCV cannot do it without us.

I hope you will join me and make a donation today to ensure we wake up the morning after the election knowing we are one step closer to safeguarding our environment and the residents of North Carolina.

Representative Sarah Crawford
NC House, District 66

P.s. Our hearts ache for Western North Carolina. If you cannot support both Helene relief and NCLCV, please give to Western North Carolina Hurricane Relief.

However, if you have capacity to do both, then please give first to hurricane relief and then support NCLCV, as this is the most important fundraiser to shape the 2024 election and beyond. Helene showed us climate change is on the ballot this year, whether those in power want to acknowledge it is real or not.
